BeMoon
Safety

Safety, built in.

Most of what keeps BeMoon pleasant isn't a setting you have to find. It's how the app works.

Everyone agrees to three house rules when they join.

  • Be kind.

Respect everyone you meet here, online and off.

  • Be real.

No taarof: your own photos, your real age, your true intentions.

  • A no is a no.

If someone isn’t interested, let it go.

Who can reach you

  • A closed inbox. No one can message you until you have both said yes.
  • Your pace. When five people are waiting on your reply, BeMoon asks you to answer before you like anyone new.
  • Keep people you know away. Block your contacts so people you know don’t come up. Only scrambled fingerprints of their numbers are uploaded, never the numbers or names.

If something feels wrong

  • Unmatch or block, any time. They won’t be told. A block is mutual and works everywhere in the app.
  • Hide. Take someone out of Discover without blocking them.
  • Report with context. Report a profile, a story, a single message or a whole conversation, for reasons such as harassment, hate, a fake profile or a scam. Your report keeps exactly what you saw, and it goes to our team.

When someone breaks the rules

Our team can restrict, suspend or remove a member. A member who is restricted sees the reason and the end date, and can appeal. Reports and their evidence are kept for 12 months after either person deletes their account.

No one at BeMoon reads conversations casually. An automated check flags possible abuse for review, and a member of staff can open a conversation only when a report names that person, with a written reason. Every access is logged.

Control what others see

  • Others see how far away you are rounded to the kilometre, and never closer than 2 km. Your exact location stays on our servers.
  • Pause your profile to stop meeting new people while your chats go on. With Pro or Max, Incognito shows you only to people you like.

Before you meet

  • Meet somewhere public, and get there and back on your own.
  • Tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Keep the conversation in BeMoon until you feel ready to share more.
  • Trust your instincts. Leaving early is always fine.

BeMoon isn’t an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number (911 in Canada and the United States).

Being finished for launch: optional selfie verification, which adds a badge when a live selfie matches your photos, and Share a date.
